CT1 – Cell Based Therapy for Improved Joint Function and Inflammation Relief

As pets age they can experience similar types of degenerative conditions as their human companions. It is particularly common for older canines to experience osteoarthritis in their hips, shoulders and knees. This condition inflicts chronic swelling and inflammation in addition to degeneration of the smooth cartilage that covers and protects the end of bones in a compound joint. The resulting symptoms range from slight discomfort to extreme joint pain.

CT1 from VetCell Therapeutics Asia is an allogeneic cell therapy for dogs that utilizes only mesenchymal stem cells to treat a patient’s osteoarthritic symptoms and swelling. Unlike autologous cell therapies that treat OA using stromal vascular fraction of surgically removed adipose tissue from the patient itself, CT1 requires no pre-treatment surgeries, yet is equally as safe and effective at treating the patient’s OA symptoms. Patients typically see improvements with just a single treatment.

What is CT1?

CT1 is an effective injection-type “off-the-shelf” allogeneic stem cell therapy produced by VetCell Therapeutics that contains adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells from young canines and has the ability to differentiate into multiple cell and tissue types that are beneficial in treating Canine Osteoarthritis.

Why Stem Cell Therapy?

Traditional drug treatments are designed to reduce the swelling and pain associated with Osteoarthritis, but not reverse the disease’s effect on the joints. CT1 is a drug-free and surgery-free treatment that mitigates negative side effects of traditional drugs, using allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells that have an excellent proliferation rate and are highly expressive of MSC markers CD29, CD44 and CD90. The cells that make up CT1 have the potential to restore damaged bone and cartilage, and can improve joint functionality, ease swelling, and reduce the pain associated with OA. For more than a decade, stem cell therapy has greatly improved the quality of life of many pets and humans suffering from degenerative joint disease by providing relief, and in many cases offers significant long-term improvement in joint function and reduced inflammation with a regimented treatment plan and a healthful lifestyle.

Arthritis Pain Symptoms

Arthritis is a painful condition that can affect adult dogs and even some juvenile dogs. Arthritis is a common disease for most breeds of dogs and is responsible for being one of the main causes of reoccurring pain in our beloved companions. Arthritis can be a very debilitating disease that greatly reduces a dog’s quality of lift and ability to enjoy basic daily activities.
